Toshiba entered the U.S. smart home energy management market at the end of the year. On the afternoon of January 9, Beijing time, Toshiba announced on Monday that it plans to enter the U.S. smart ho home energy management market by the end of this year. At the same time, it is expected that this business will generate 10billion yen (about $129.68 million) of revenue for the company in the fiscal year ending March 2016

Toshiba will enter this market through landis+gyr, an electronic instrument manufacturer headquartered in Switzerland. In May, 2011, Toshiba acquired the company for $2.3 billion

Toshiba predicts that by fiscal 2015, the size of the global intelligent household energy management market will reach 900billion yen (about 11.67 billion US dollars). Toshiba also said that it expected the size of this market in the United States to reach 140billion yen (about $1.82 billion in 2008) in the same period

it is estimated that by 2015, half of the 96million households in the United States will be equipped with intelligent electronic instruments, and another 5million households will be equipped with other types of electronic instruments
