Therefore, old excavators account for a considerable proportion of imports. When purchasing machinery, they often take the price as the primary consideration, while foreign old excavators have become the first choice of many contractors with their price advantages. On the other hand, there is still a big gap between domestic excavators and imported well-known brand excavators in terms of reliability, durability and maintainability. By constantly improving the functions of excavators and developing new technologies to meet the needs of the domestic market, new excavators show strong advantages in coal mining, urban reconstruction and other projects with narrow space. China imports some excavators suitable for domestic use to gradually replace some loaders, and the appearance of substitution effect further drives the continuous growth of imports

III. relevant issues worthy of attention

(I) with the large increase in the import of old excavators, a series of problems and potential safety hazards have gradually become prominent. Due to the weak technical competitiveness, the domestic excavator manufacturing industry has fallen behind in the competition with Japanese Komatsu, Hitachi, Korean Hyundai, Daewoo and other companies for the domestic excavator market. Old excavators further occupied the domestic market with low prices, which dealt a heavy blow to domestic excavators. However, a considerable number of old excavators have problems of noise and exhaust emissions exceeding the standard, which have not met the environmental protection requirements of their original country. However, at present, the General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine and its relevant departments have no specific standards for environmental protection when inspecting imported used excavators. The influx of old excavators will inevitably bring serious environmental problems and harm the interests of consumers. In 2006, the state successively released the list of five batches of excavator import enterprises with after-sales service capacity and spare parts supply capacity, allowing relevant enterprises to import used excavators for sale in the domestic market, and strengthening the after-sales guarantee. However, the state still lacks scientific and effective testing standards and safeguard measures for the fuselage quality of imported old excavators. The hidden dangers of old excavators are difficult to eradicate, and it is easy to cause safety accidents in the process of use

(II) the domestic independent research and development ability of core components needs to be improved. Excavator is a kind of high-power earthwork machinery. As a result, the key components of excavators in China must also rely on imports, and can only rely on international procurement to improve the performance and reliability of the whole machine. Although domestic parts enterprises have made technological breakthroughs in working cylinders, slewing bearings, cabs, seats, electrical instruments and other aspects, which can basically replace imported products, there is still a large gap in workmanship and reliability. The backwardness of engine, hydraulic system, control system, rotation system, cooling system and basic accessories has become one of the important factors restricting the improvement of the quality of China's construction machinery. (III) the small excavator industry is in a mature market. At present, the market share of CFRP has reached 90%, and domestic enterprises are facing great pressure from international competition. With the rapid economic development of developing countries such as China and India, the construction machinery market is also improving day by day. In order to reduce manufacturing costs and enhance market competitiveness, world-renowned construction machinery manufacturers have gradually transferred production and manufacturing links to these countries with low production costs, realized local production and local sales, and began to enter the supply system of the global market. Although China's excavator industry has developed rapidly for more than 10 years, the market pattern of medium and large excavators dominated by foreign-funded enterprises has become increasingly stable, and China has become one of the world's largest excavator producers and consumers. However, the small excavator industry is still in the primary stage of market introduction and development, and the demand is growing continuously and rapidly. At present, small excavators account for only 20% of the total excavator sales in China. It is expected that this number will reach 40% in five years, and the production and sales volume will reach nearly 40000 units. However, international well-known excavator manufacturers have entered the Chinese market, such as Ingersoll Rand SM, case, JCB, Terex, caterpillar, Volvo, Hyundai and Doosan. These enterprises are positioned in the high-end and middle-end markets, and their sales in the Chinese market are showing a rapid growth trend. And these construction machinery enterprises are also taking small excavators as a breakthrough, thus expanding to other small construction machinery. However, the high technical barriers, large equipment investment, strong production professionalism and high industrial access threshold of small hydraulic excavators have restricted the breakthrough development of domestic enterprises in this regard

(IV) domestic enterprises lack independent intellectual property rights, and the low brand awareness restricts the further development of enterprises. Domestic excavators have a low market share and a single product structure. The development of domestic excavators is obviously suppressed by foreign brand products. Domestic production enterprises have obvious deficiencies compared with foreign well-known excavator production enterprises such as Komatsu, Hitachi, Sumitomo, Hyundai, Daewoo, Doosan, etc. in terms of international supporting of key parts, improving product performance and reliability, localized technical improvement, and reducing costs and prices. At the same time, the key components of excavators also need to rely on imports and relatively few varieties of self owned brand excavators, which makes it more difficult for China's excavator production enterprises

IV. relevant suggestions
